Eminent Domain

The government should not be allowed to take someones property unless it is truly for the better of the community, such as to build a hospital. In cases where the government justifies taking someones property to put in more parking for a car dealership because it brings in more taxes for the communities benefit seems ridiculous to me. Hundreds of people have lived in these homes or have had these family owed businesses for years, and for the government to take it away should be unconstitutional.

  1. I agree, Taking peoples property for unjustified reasons should not be allowed. Eminet Domain should be used for public benefit only.

  2. Exactly. Taking somebody's property away to fatten the city's wallet by building big businesses there is wrong and unconstitutional. If the government is planning to build a car dealership or something, either build it on a vacant lot or provide an actual house to the people whose land they're taking. Not just money.

  3. I think we all pretty much in agreement. Eminent domain is ridiculous and completely irrelevant in today's society. In the early years of America it was okay because we were setting up our infrastructure but in today's modern world there is no need for it.
